College Creek Hawkwatch

The 17th consecutive College Creek Hawkwatch began today, with 25 Turkey Vultures recorded crossing the James River, despite a cold and stiff northwest wind. It's the only regular late winter/spring hawkwatch in VA. The site is on the Colonial Parkway, about 3 miles east of Williamsburg and is operated daily, weather permitting from about 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. usually through May. Daily results are input into the Hawkcount.org website operated by the Hawk Migration Association of North America. Results are also often posted on Facebook and the VA List Serve. We also hope to record some northbound finches following last falls's tremendous finch flight. For more info, e-mail Taberzz@aol.com.
